Naturopathic Medicine- Specializing in non-drug therapies to reach optimal health!
Naturopathic doctors practice as primary care providers. Dr. Jana Nalbandian makes a conventional Western diagnosis using standard diagnostic procedures such as physical examination, laboratory tests, and radiology. However, she also makes a pathophysiologic diagnosis using physical and laboratory procedures to assess nutritional status, genetic findings, metabolic function and toxic load. In addition, a considerable amount of time is spent assessing the patient's mental, emotional, social and spiritual status.
Therapeutically, NDs use virtually every known natural therapy: dietetics, therapeutic nutrition, botanical medicine, physical therapy, naturopathic manipulative therapy, lifestyle counseling, exercise therapy, homeopathy, psychological and family counseling and hydrotherapy.
Dr. Nalbandian is extensively trained in non-drug options in women's health care. She helps women with female concerns, utilizing a non-prescription approach via lifestyle changes, herbs, nutrition, and low dose over the counter bio-identical hormonal therapy. Dr. Nalbandian has over 25 years working as a leader in the ND field as a teacher and clinician at Bastyr University, private practice in Seattle and the last five years working at Avante.
Naturopathic medicine concentrates on the whole-person. Dr. Nalbandian will attempt to find the underlying cause of the patient's condition rather than focusing solely on symptomatic treatment. She works with all other branches of medical science referring patients to other practitioners for diagnosis or treatment when appropriate.
When patients require drug medication prescriptions, Dr. Nalbandian refers to one of our prescribing providers at Avante or refers out to other medical providers in the community when needed.
