Nurse Practitioner

Debra Hobbins, DNP, APRN, WHNP, CARN-AP

Dr. Deb is a seasoned nurse practitioner of over 35 years, board-certified in Women’s Health/Men’s Reproductive Health and Addictions. Educational qualifications include a Doctorate in Nursing Practice and a Master’s in Nursing Education, with Nurse Practitioner training through Harbor General Hospital/UCLA School of Medicine.

Her clinical experience includes decades in well-woman care, prenatal care, and addiction treatment; and several years each in chronic pain management, chronic anticoagulation therapy, college health, clinical research, teen mom, hospice, and primary care at the Salt Lake City VA.

She was an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Brigham Young University; and an instructor at the University of Utah and several community colleges. Her administrative experience includes VA Associate Chief Nurse; Women Veterans Program Manager; Military Sexual Trauma Program Coordinator; Executive Officer of the Utah State Boards of Nursing, Pharmacy, Midwifery, Physical Therapy, and Occupational Therapy; and Director of Student Health Services for the largest community college in California.

Professional activities include over 50 publications/book chapters, primarily peer-reviewed; more than 80 public presentations; recipient of numerous awards, including Pfizer Nurse Practitioner of the Year 1999 and BYU Honored Alumnus 2011; member of the American Nurses Association Congress on Nursing Practice and Economics; Board of Directors International Nurses Society on Addiction; and Chair of the Practice Committee, Board of Directors, and President of the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses. Dr. Deb has served on several locals, state, and national committees regarding women’s health, health care, and addictions.

Dr. Deb has birthed and mothered 10 children; is happily married to Clay; and enjoys reading, Bikram yoga, organic gardening, cooking, and raising organic chickens. She loves people and is lifted and energized through their shared interactions.

Her current practice consists of women’s health and wellness, bio-identical hormone replacement therapy, perimenopause, preventative care, contraception, and adolescent contraception.
