Fine Line/Wrinkle Reduction
Collagen Renewal & Wrinkle/Fine Line Reduction
with SmartXide DOT CO2 Laser
If you have spent years in the sun, especially without adequate sun protection, then you know what it can do to your skin. Wrinkles, skin discoloration, sun-spots, skin laxity may be reduced or eliminated with DOT Therapy. Also, if you have scars from acne or other skin injuries, then you may also be a candidate for this procedure.
Now, with DOT Therapy, an innovative, new laser procedure, less than one hour in your doctor's office may restore your skin's youthful appearance. While the aging process cannot be stopped, with proper care you can maintain your rejuvenated skin's appearance for many years!
How does DOT Therapy work?
DOT Therapy is the ideal approach for skin rejuvenation. During the procedure, your doctor will apply a pattern of tiny scanned pulses of laser energy to your skin. The DOT Therapy laser precisely creates thousands of microscopic holes (DOT's) in your skin, which induce immediate skin tightening and stimulate new collagen growth. DOT Therapy is designed to improve the skin's texture and tone and to fight fine lines, deep wrinkles, and acne scars.
Unlike older laser technology, DOT Therapy leaves islands of healthy tissue surrounding the microscopic DOTs. This enables your skin to heal more rapidly. Afterward, your skin will be red, similar to a sunburn. You may also experience some peeling after about three to four days. In most cases, your skin will return to its normal appearance in about five to seven days. Your doctor may apply a topical anesthetic to your skin to make the procedure more comfortable during the treatment.
After the laser procedure is completed, a cold compress will be applied. During your recovery period you will apply a hydrating lotion to keep your skin moist and to promote rapid healing. In most cases, you may resume applying make up after about three days.
Collagen Renewal & Wrinkle/Fine Line Reduction with IPL
The LHE effect on skin texture is based on the stimulation of new collagen growth that will help replenish and even out the shrunken dermis layer. Tone and texture improve and fine lines and wrinkles fade as collagen rebuilds.

LHE creates a mild thermal insult to the dermal/epidermal junction. directly targets hemoglobin found in vascular lesions. |

The thermal trauma triggers a natural wound-healing response and new collagen is produced. |
Near and mid infrared wavelengths (700 and above) are directly absorbed by intra and extracellular water. The resulting mild thermal insult to the papillary and upper reticular dermis leads to fibroblast activation. Fibroblasts are the cells of connective tissue responsible for making the collagen and elastin fiber cells found in the connective tissue of the dermis.
The creation of new collagen and connective material caused by the thermal insult and subsequent fibroblast activation occurs over a period of a few weeks to a few months. This wound healing response leads to improvement in skin texture and the smoothing of fine lines that has been shown to hold up over several years if patients
Skin Tightening
Periorbital wrinkles and skin laxity are the first, most noticeable signs of facial aging. LHE Skin Tightening is pain-free and clinically proven to improve these effects. Skin appears firmer, smoother and younger as it loses its laxity and wrinkles fade, creating a natural lifting effect. Infrared light penetrates deep into the lower dermal levels and sets off a mild dermal trauma to initiate a wound/heal response. The collagen found in these levels responds with new growth, returning firmness and elasticity to the skin. LHE Skin Tightening emits infrared light energy in a proprietary, 30 second multi-pulse algorithm. This provides optimal deep dermal heating while preventing epidermal over heating. The broadband infrared light reaches a penetration depth of 1-3 mm, targeting the reticular dermis. Dermal temperature is raised to 50-60?C, while temperature of the epidermis is maintained below 40-42?C to minimize pain and avoid any potential side effects. Results are often visible as early as the 5th week and continue to improve with time.
Science Behind Photorejuvenation
LHE light pulse is selectively absorbed in melanin and hemoglobin
The LHE heat pulse is non-selectively absorbed in the skin
As a result, pigmented and vascular lesions reach coagulation temperatures while surrounding collagen is only moderately heated to stimulate collagen remodeling.
