Kimberly Kubick is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and a local Alaskan who graduated from Reed College in Portland, Oregon with a degree in Psychology/History in 1997 and then went on to Vanderbilt School of Nursing in Nashville, Tennessee where she received a BSN/MSN in Nurse-Midwifery in 2002. Several years later she became a Family Nurse Practitioner at OHSU in Portland, Oregon and was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau Honors Society.
Kimberly has been a Nurse-Midwife/Family Nurse Practitioner for nearly 10 years and had a wide-ranging career spanning women's health, public health, international medicine, internal medicine, oncology, and, more recently, integrative medicine. Kimberly's other passion is international medicine where she has worked in Nicaragua, Guatemala, Bolivia, Zambia, and Costa Rica.
For nearly three years, Kimberly worked at Katmai Oncology as an Oncology Nurse Practitioner which gave her a love and compassion for individuals struggling with the initial process of diagnosis to the role of survivor. She is passionate about helping patients through the chemotherapy/radiation process with non-invasive integrative health modalities. Kimberly works to support the patient with non-invasive side effect management founded in individualized nutrition principles.
"I am interested in helping patients going through the chemotherapeutic process with supportive measures centering around side effects of the treatment as well as nutritional support. My goal is to make chemotherapy, surgery, and/or radiation as supportive and as tenable as possible. Finally, during survivorship, I would like to help the patient through this transitional period back to full wellness, energy, and hope."
Kimberly was recently certified in Metabolic Nutrition. This nutritional philosophy is individualized for each patient depending on how they metabolize proteins and carbohydrates. A specific diet is created to optimize their particular nutritional needs. This is very important for patients during and after chemotherapy as well for the athlete optimizing their training regimen.
Kimberly continues to further her education by regularly attending educational conferences on a myriad of topics from primary to integrative medicine keeping her abreast of the most current medicine. She is also a current member of the Alaska Nurse Practitioner Association and American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
"I am a very active individual, and, within the realm of orthopedics and pain management, my goal is to incorporate various modalities including conventional medicine, botanicals, massage, acupuncture, nutrition, and physical therapy. It is important to see any orthopedic concern as a holistic process involving multiple facets of health."
Finally, Kimberly is certified in laser surfacing technology including the DEKA CO2 laser as well as Botox and fillers. She incorporates a holistic, entire body approach to supporting skin health, to assist a patient's ability to age beautifully. She works to provide support from the inside out, creating balance while addressing an individual's needs at all levels.
Kimberly has a strong commitment to the community in which she serves and regularly volunteers at Brother Francis Shelter's caring clinic. Kimberly has a passion for the outdoors and enjoys telemark skiing, biking, fishing, and traveling. Kimberly believes in treating the whole person looking at the physical, spiritual, and psychological sides of an individual and framing the health care experience to suit the individual patient's needs.
