Christine Sagan, ANP
A member of the Avante team since 2007, Christine Sagan is a family nurse practitioner who brings an integrative, holistic and evidence-based approach to healing.
Christine enjoys treating the whole family, with special emphases on women's health, bioidentical hormone treatment, nutritional counseling, weight loss, chronic disease management, fatigue, allergies, and pediatrics.
A member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the Alaska Nurse Practitioners Association, Christine holds both a bachelor and a masters degree in nursing from the University of Alaska, Anchorage. She was inducted in May 2007 to the Sigma Theta Tau Honors Society.
Christine regularly attends national and international conferences on orthomolecular and integrative medicine, sharing her new knowledge with her clients. She is willing to alter treatments based on the latest clinical evidence.
"I believe in getting down to the root cause of problems and treating the whole person," said Christine, whose clients often comment on her attentive and caring nature. "I like to educate my patients so that when they leave my office, they feel more confident about their health and their future. An essential part of my practice is getting to know each patient individually so we can develop a relationship of mutual respect and trust."
Christine has facilitated Avante's book club since 2007, helping the clinic's clientele and members of the general public become familiar with important health topics. With the book club, she enjoys providing a venue for local readers to have a useful dialogue about a wide variety of pertinent information.
From 2001-07, Sagan worked as a nurse at Alaska Native Medical Center. She has also worked closely with the Anchorage community as an independent nurse contractor and has volunteered her time to perform physicals for causes such as the Salvation Army and the Anchorage School District.
When not practicing, Christine enjoys taking advantage of Alaska's natural beauty with running, hiking, biking, and camping. She is active in her local church and women's group, and she is an avid traveler, having explored parts of four continents and living abroad in Honduras and Germany.
A native of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Sagan has lived in Anchorage since 1996. She and her husband, Nathan, are the parents of two adorable daughters.
