Acupuncture is a component of traditional Chinese medicine that originated more than 5,000 years ago. The insertion of fine, sterile needles into specific points facilitates the smooth flow of “Qi” (energy) in the body’s energetic pathways known as meridians. These energetic pathways, similar to the nervous system, maintain the dynamic balance of our physical, mental, and spiritual body.

Acupuncture works through creating balance in the body’s energy pathways and works to stimulate the release of pain-relieving endorphins, influencing the release of neurotransmitters, (substances that transmit nerve impulses to the brain), influencing the autonomic nervous system, stimulating circulation, and influencing the electrical currents of the body.  This results in the balance of Qi, allowing for health and wellness to be restored to the body, mind and spirit.
