About Us

Mission Statement:

“Avante Medical Center is a unique facility established to provide Alaskans with a broad range of integrative and progressive medical services.  We provide care to clients with acute and chronic health challenges in a nurturing, warm and beautiful environment.  Our goal is to educate, empower and enrich our clients’ health through a caring, professional and personable experience.”

Jason J Harmon, ND and Bethany Buchanan, ANP came together in 2001 with a shared vision to create Avante Medical Center. Their vision began with the intent for healing to begin when the patient walks in the door. The spacious and beautiful design of Avante was created keeping this vision in mind.

They have employed an excellent staff that excels in making each person’s visit a positive and memorable experience.  As providers, Dr. Harmon and Ms. Buchanan follow their mission statement by providing patients with education, encouragement and empowerment with regard to their health issues. They strive to stay current on medical issues and offer services that may not be found across Alaska or in more conventional provider’s office.

At Avante, our mission of bringing together a world class medical team, has been based upon the term “progressive medicine.”  Patients are not required to choose “alternative” medicine or “conventional” medicine exclusively at Avante, but rather our providers focus on the best of both worlds, creating a blend of what is best for the patient at that time.  This blend allows for effective treatment of both chronic and acute primary care with practitioners that range from Naturopathic doctors to Advanced Nurse Practitioners.  The medical team that has formed at Avante is second to none in Alaska providing comprehensive medical care in a warm, nurturing, and beautiful environment.

Our healthcare providers and staff members complement each other by offering a wide variety of specialties, allowing patients to be connected with a variety of options and choices. This allows for a “team” approach which creates a complete compressive medical experience.  For those specialties that Avante does not offer, each of our providers works with the medical community within Anchorage and abroad assuring that all your medical needs will be cared for in an appropriate, caring and timely fashion.

Avante Medical Center is proud to offer many services and therapies to complement our primary care, such as myofascial trigger point release therapy, advanced IV nutritional services, on site lab draws, two different approaches to allergy assessment and therapy, environmental medicine department and massage.  Avante strives to give back to the community with workshops, lectures, and an informative quarterly newsletter. With a two person insurance billing team with over 25 years of combined experience, we provide excellent assistance in assuring timely insurance attention while undergoing medical care.

Dr. Harmon and Ms. Buchanan’s goal is for you, our patient, to be more than satisfied with your experience at Avante, making it feel like you have finally found a place to call home when it comes to your healthcare needs. We thank you for your patronage and look forward to assisting you in the future’s health experiences.
